Can you develop coronary artery disease without hypertension?
I am a 26 year old female with a blood pressure ranging from 116 118 76 78. I have never had hypertension. I am obese, however, with a strong family history of heart disease on my father's side. I know what I need to do to be healthy, so please no lectures. My specific question is regarding the likelihood of having coronary artery disease or severe atherosclerosis without any hypertension. Not just applying to me, either, but generally speaking. Thank you.
Fructose or fruit sugars can cause metabolic syndrome, hypertension and even diabetes leading to weight gain?
Fact. " The only metabolic pathway open to fructose is that which ends up in fatty acid production. And remember, excessive fatty acid and triglyceride levels are convincingly tied to development of the metabolic syndrome, hypertension, glucose intolerance and type 2 diabetes." And," The rapid and poorly controlled metabolism of fructose in the liver leads to increased hepatic lipogenesis, dyslipidemia and increased storage of fat in the liver. Increased lipid levels are associated with insulin insensitivity and, therefore, development of metabolic syndrome and type two diabetes. Clearly, today's sucrose and fructose enriched diets are a threat to health." Is this true? What the hell are you talking about, John? That's someone else's post and I'm asking how accurate it is.

POSTPARTUM HYPERTENSION & ABNORMAL THYROID PANEL RESULT... HELP ME FREE MY SELF FROM WORRIES?
I am 36 years old and I delivered my first baby by cesarian operation last July 14, 2010. After the operation my bp was elivated to 170 90 but it subsided within a few hours. But 6 days after the operation my bp raised again up to 180 100. My doctor told that I have a postpartum hypertension. I was given felodipine 5 mg Versant XR one in the morning and one in the evening for one week, then for the 2nd week, my doctor instructed me to divide the tablet into 2 and take 1 2 of it in the morning and the other half in the evening, and in the 3rd week my ob doctor instructed me again to take 1 2 of the tablet only at night until my bp back to normal. But with in the 3rd week I experienced shortage of breathing, my heart beat faster in which I guess has turned me to hyperventilate. I went to see another physician, this time an internal medicine doctor, she just only add another 5 mg to the medicine I'm taking, the Felodipine 10mg. Then she run a thyroid panel from me with this result T3 1.1, T4 3.7, TSH 1.2. She told me that she hasn't felt any lump on my neck but still she gave me thyroxine 100mcg to be taken daily. She instructed me for an ultrasound and if nothing abnormal is found, I should be ct scanned because according to her my T4 is low and yet my TSH is normal. Now this made me worry. Do I really be ct scanned? Does the result shown something serious to my health? Anybody out there, an endocrinologist, an internest, who can help me with this? Please help me... I have my baby and how will I take care of her fully if I'm sick. Thanks a lot....cherille
Can excess Calcium in the bloodstream cause Angina and Hypertension?
I am a 20 year old male with numerous cardiovascular problems but am unable to find a diagnosis. Severe palpitations, Chest pain on excertion and shortness of breath. I have had my blood tests and my cholesterol was an extremely good reading, 3.5 i think it was. At times my blood pressure is a little on the high side, but because of my age, and weight, my doctor and cardiologist refuse to believe that i may have atherosclerotic plaque built up in my arteries which may be contributing to this.HOWEVER, I had to personally request a calcium blood test which came back showing results on the high side, and i have read that high calcium can cause hypertension. So my question is, could an excess of calcium cause cardiovascular problems like the ones i am describing, i have been like this for the past three months with my symptoms getting progressivley worse and no resolution being found.Could I have found the problem by myself, or does calcium excess in blood not cause hypertension, angina, heart pvc,pac , etc etc etc...To Donna B.Im retty sure my calcium level was 2.5mmolTo Angel eyesMy CRP was 6, i was told that if it's over 8, then its a worry?
