Why do people say bulimia causes weight gain?

Question: Why do people say bulimia causes weight gain?

I have been bulimic for the past two weeks and I dropped 4 pounds... i only purged like 75 % of the time I ate too. Supposively over 50 % of the calories are absorbed after pinging everything in your stomach...if this is true then I would have probably averaged over 4000 calories a day, now how did I lose 4 pounds? Are people lying to scare people away because of the terrible health effects?

You will lose small amounts of weight for a little while, but eventually you will gain it back. bulimia is a verrrrrry serious problem and you need to stop ASAP! you are destroying your throat and teeth! It isnt going to be so awesome when your throat bursts open bc it is so thin from your stomach acid and you die! or your teeth rot out of your mouth.

Even though you are purging, you are still absorbing the calories. it is bad for you though; it can rot your teeth among other things.

Ok,look bulimia is a very dangerous addiction..once you eat the food you digest is broken down and it mixes with natural fluids in your body,so the food becomes easy to digest. those acids make everything easy to digest but when you trigger your tongue to trow up those acids come rushing up and they start eating away your tissue like your throat add vocal cords, then your teeth start loosing calcium and you loose them one by one,as you keep loosing weight, then once you reach the point where you become an addict to everything that you eat you'll start loosing energy and your immune system decays..not only is your body ruined but your psychological problems get bigger and then suicide thought come in handy and then all you know is gone just because of vanity..take care and is not too late..chao

Ok 1st of all, being bulimic or having any eating disordered behavior to loose weight, is a waste of your time if you want to be healthy and actually feel beautiful and confident in your own body. imagine feeling so weak and brittle that you dont want to stand up in the morning, and when you do, you black out. feeling like you're huge when the reality is that you really look like a shrunken in gremlin...or just having your digestive system go to shit in general, and having pretty much every thought you develope; every feeling about yourself and health, be wrong due to the disorder. and who wants to become so enveloped into the disorder that they damage themselves so badly that they cant have children when they're older? and who wants to choose throwing up or compulsively exercising over hanging out with friends? or you could end up like me and end up with a guy who wants to take you out to eat and you're so nervous about food that you turn him down and he ends up leaving you for someone who's NOT afraid of an ice cream cone. bulimiahelp.org/ community/ forums/ did-bulimia-make-you-gain-weight heres a site where people who struggle with things like that talked about how being bulimic made them gain weight (notice how alot of them say things like "why cant i stop? " or "why do i have to think this way to want to be sickly thin? " and heres a short video for you too videojug.com/ expertanswer/ physical-dangers-of-bulimia-2/ how-can-bulimia-make-a-person-gain-weight
