Anyone know of diet medication for adolescents?
I have a 14yr old son that is 5'5" and is 200lbs and I'm considering taking him to see a weight loss doctor. My mother in law is the one who suggested me taking him, because of health reasons. He doesn't have any problems now, but at weight he is now he probably will when he gets older. I know he wants to lose weight, but he doesn't have enough will power. So maybe if he gets a little boost from the diet pills, he'll want to keep it up on his own. I don't want him to rely on " pills" , I just want him to get a little help at first. Anyone know of a doctor in Dallas or anyone know what kind of pills they are and are they safe for adolescents? HELP

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and have been thinking about asking for prescription diet pills. I have been following a 1200 calorie diet with exercise 3 4 times weekly and I'm just not getting results. I have 40 lbs to lose to reach an ideal weight. Do you think my doctor will give me diet medication?
i am 5'7" black female and weight 158 i think right now. i don't really eat alot, not that much fast food or junk food, and eat red meat about once every 2 months. i do drink water, have a small coffee, a donut every now and then. I work out everyday. i have been losing weight since i was 19 my heaviest being 207 , but not it is like my body does not want to lose any more. i want to be thin, and 158 is not good enough. i want to be 130, but the diet pills are my last option before i start to stop eating all together. I see my doctor for the 3rd of May, and if i ask do you think she will give me diet pills to drop the weight.

Diet Medication/Lapband, what should be my first step towards major weight loss and how can I pay for this?
First off, I have health insurance, but it's not the greatest, so I'm not sure how much of this would be covered. I'm at the point where my weight is a real hinderence and a health issue. It's been this way for most of my life and I've been through so many diets I couldn't even tell you how many. I'm considering going to a doctor a general doctor first? about this and finding out if I should go on a medication or possibly even have that lapband surgery. Has anyone here gone through this and what do you think my first steps should be? What things do I need to consider and how does this all get paid for? How much would diet medication or surgery cost? Also, I have to find time away from work if I have the surgery. Is this something short term disability will cover or do I need an unpaid leave of abscence?
