Question: Herpes cause problems in the military?

I had to ask, I mean I know you can't get deployed if you have HIV, so what about herpes? Does that hurt your chances in being a spec ops for Navy Seals, Scout Sniper, etc. It was an honest question. T dog, thanks for your answer, so Herpex simple II wouldn't matter for Seals? Because I have a friend who wants to join, and I he may have simplex II. It's his dream to be one.

If herpes stopped you from getting into the Military, we'd lose like 50% of our forces, 70-90% of people get HSV-1 and 1 out of every 5 people get genital herpes. It's no big deal, just cold sores. I too am training for BUD/ S to become a Navy SEAL and had the same concern as you, but it will not effect your enlistment the slightest. Stay focused, and good luck! Hoo-Yah! Nope! No Form of herpes will stop you from joining the Military! HSV-2 Will still not stop you! Its very common actually! Tell him just to keep on with the training, and to make sure he doesn't catch something more serious that will prevent him from joining such as HIV. Every 9 seconds someone gets HIV. He needs to make sure he isn't one of them.
