Lymphoma diagnosis pending?
It all started last fall, when I became very sick with a cold. For many years, I have had a weakness for bronchitis and thus my lungs and airways were very irritated. Finally, I went to the doctor and got some anitibiotics. But that next day, a swollen lymph node on my left arm below the bicep appeared and was SORE. Then some time later, up in the left armpit, I got another swollen PAINFUL lymph node. After that, I developed a bulge in my left palm of my hand, same arm. Well, after multiple blood tests and a chest x ray that revealed nothing abnormal, 3 months later my lymph nodes were still there as well as the mass on my left hand. The lymph node, especially in my armpit had gotten bigger. This week I went to another doctor. They ran some labs. The blood tests were fine but the chest x ray reveals large swollen lymph nodes in my chest, and the hand x ray revealed bone erosion. My doctor feels he sees cancer in the hand. They are going to do a biopsy on a node mon.Additionally, I only have swollen lymph nodes it seems that hurt on my left side but when the doctor was feeling around there were sensitive nodes on my right side of the body. Also, the swollen nodes in my chest are painful. What surprises me is that most people with lymphoma have PAINLESS lymph nodes. They also complain of symptoms like night sweats and fever. I don't have any of these symptoms. I am a little tired some of the day, but I wouldn't call it excessive fatigue. However, I will say that I have these symptoms1. Shortness of breath at times from a itch in my throat, kind of like residue from the cold I have.2. Weeziness though the doctor said tha was coming from my throat not my lungs.3. Sore muscles, sore joints, though the cold as always bothered my joints to a certain extent.4. Pain in my right shoulder, that gets worse if I raise my hand above my head, I feel this might be tendonitis.I felt good until the doc's app, now I feel terrible greif.
Is Lymphoma diagnosis a death sentence?
I've heard people survive to five years, but does lymphoma eventually get them? I've been making plans, but if I don't have much time left, I want to get some things done, even if I have to not do other things. What's the chance of surviving this? I have stage IIB, large B cell diffuse lymphoma. Thanks for your honesty.
