Question: Swine flu risk...29 weeks pregnant?
(Posted by: OceanLover21 on 2009-07-19 19:44:45)
I am 29 weeks pregnant, and work at a powerstation in Australia, owned & operated mainly by Japanese staff. Some of which, regularly fly back and forth to Japan. So I am a little concerned about swine flu, due to the latest warnings that have been issued for pregnant women. I had planned to work for another 6 weeks, but am wondering if i should play it safe and finish up earlier. How real is the risk of catching swine flu, and do you think i would be silly to continue working and take my chances? Tweety Bird, i think it is obvious that it IS relevant. The fact that the Japanese staff are constanly travelling to and from Japan, sharing flights with different people from different parts of the world, quite significantly increases the risk of them contracting the virus. It is recommended that people avoid travel to avoid the swine flu, so i cant help but feel i am at a greater risk of catching it, because of the travel of other staff. |
